iPhone makes my hand tingle

I just got my first iPhone and ever since I got it I've noticed a tingling sensation in finger, the knuckles actually, of the hand holding the phone.

It happens with both hands and as soon as pick it up I start to feel it.

My wife and I got phones at the same time, she doesn't notice it with her phone. Tomorrow I'll switch with her and see if she feels it with my phone and if I don't with hers.

It's a very disconcerting feeling, like you have a small electric current going through your hand.

I have found a few other posts online with people mentioning this, and someone thought it might be related to the current in the screen.

Does anyone else feel it or know what it is?

Prior to picking it up, had you been talking for an extended period. I only ask because I heard a news report the other day that holding a cell phone for an extended period of time up to your ear causes a block of the blood circulating through your arm. Much like a twisted water hose. Don't know if that has anything to do with your issue, but thought I'd add it.

"My guess is that probably the phone is not properly grounded and there's a leak in current."

If the phone was plugged into a charger, I would have a tendency to agree with you. However, since the OP mentioned that the iPhone was not plugged in, it must be something else. My guess is that he has suffered nerve damage somehow, unrelated to the iPhone, so it must be the iPhone...

This sounds like it should be a feature, to me. When people are driving and holding their phones, it should shock them a little so they put it down :-D. I am guilty of this, but I think it's slowly becoming the #1 accident-inducing problem.

There's a large nerve in the elbow that gets irritated from this and it manifests as tingling in portions of the hand.

Often called Ulnar Tunnel Syndrome, a common problem with rock climbers.

Many in that sport have surgery to move the nerve since not having feeling in your hand is "inconvenient" when making some moves. I decided to give up the sport and forgo the surgery. But I've never experienced this issue unless loading the major muscles of my arm (and never with PDAs and such).
