How to copy Kindle eBook file from Mac to IPhone

I just bought an ebook from pragprog.com, and downloaded both .pdf and Kindle .mobi formats to my MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.7. I don't have a Kindle device, but I do have the Kindle app for iPhone running on my 3GS. Can anyone tell me how to copy the file from my laptop into Kindle on my iPhone?

I have posted this question on the Kindle and iPhone discussion forums on amazon.com also, and have not received any responses. It looks like the only way to get books into the iPhone kindle app is through the kindle store or sync with kindle device.

Thanks.

According to this page:

you need Stanza Desktop.

Thanks, Dave. I guess it would have been a good idea for me to look at the help section on the website that I bought the book from!

Stanza uses it's own file format, and the appropriate file from the mobile pragprog.com site automatically downloads and loads into Stanza on the iPhone.

This works great, but being new to Stanza, I still prefer the Kindle user interface, as it makes better use of the multi-touch functionality of the iPhone. I guess Amazon has the Kindle platform locked down tight on the iPhone. The only way to get Kindle files onto the device is to buy them from the Kindle store, or to manually load them on the physical Kindle device first and whispersync them.

Thanks again!

That seems to be the case. I have a Kindle2 and the iPhone app and the iPhone reader is good for short reads on line and such.
