Reset PMU on iBook G4

Hello all. I have a 1.2 ghz iBook G4 that I purchased in August of 04. Recently the computer will either go into sleep mode, or just plain shut down without notice. I've went in and checked my energy saver settings, but this could not be the cause. I am now wanting to reset the PMU on my notebook. The problem is that the directions the apple site gives to do this do note apply to my notebook. (I am unable to find a reset button anywhere) Would someone be so kind as to advise me on how to accomplish with my mid 04 iBook?

Thanks

Donald, you need to scroll down and click on the link the starts with:

iBook (16 VRAM), iBook (14.1 LCD 16 VRAM), iBook (14.1 LCD 32 VRAM),

That will take you the the following (FAQ#6):

For iBook (16 VRAM) and later models of iBook, there is no physical reset button.

1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.

Thanks for your advice. I followed as you stated above, (and also in the article when I gave it a closer look) and successfully reset my PMU. Alas, that was not at the cause of my mystery shut downs. Combing this discussion for more tips I found mention of a errant memory chip causing problems. I removed a 256k chip I installed 6 months ago. Bingo.... the problem was gone. And for what it is worth, it was a non Apple branded chip. So maybe there is something to paying Apple's premium price.
