Mail received notification

Simple question really. How do I get notification that mail has been received or opened once it has been sent? Simple on work PC but can't find same on Mac at home

intel imac, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 20 inch

HI,

You are referring to the Mac Mail application?

In the Mail window on the left you will see Inbox Outbox Drafts Sent and Trash.

Your Inbox will have a number indicating how many new messages you have.

The Sent box will show all Sent messages.

You can go to Mail/Preferences and set up everything just to your personal liking.

Also, with the Mac Mail application open, from the Menu Bar, click Help.

Thanks Carolyn. What I meant was that on my PC i can receive a notification when someone has opened a mail I have sent, but tried to do this with Mac Mail and doesn't seem to have that option.

I see what you mean. To my knowledge, there isn't anyway to confirm if sent e-mail has been opened by the person you sent it to in Mac Mail.

Requesting Read Receipts in Mac OS X Mail isn't built in.
I haven't used it but terminal request info below care of google. 🙂
