How to fade in and out in multi-track editor

Is there any way to fade a clip in or out in the multi-track editor? I can only select whole clips, and when I go to the process menu all the effects, including fade in and out, are greyed out.

The only way I've been able to do it so far is to create an audio file project and do it there. Surely there must be a much quicker and easier way to do it in multi-track mode, besides adjusting the volume envelope?

I'm using Soundtrack Pro 1.1
