I can't delete my Safari Bookmarks permanently, Please help

In Safari 4 for my Macbook, My Bookmarks bar seems to be permanent. I'm able to delete websites from the bar and add some on, in order to customize it to my liking. But as soon as I quit Safari and open it back up, the deleted bookmarks are back in the bar, as though I did nothing. I've tried reseting Safari, Deleting the bookmarks from the computer, and uninstalling safari completely. NOthing seems to get rid of them. So my question is, how can i permanently delete these pesky bookmarks?

You're messing around with something you're unfamiliar with, and inviting trouble. *Do not* unistall and reinstall things unless you understand the consequences. There's nothing wrong with Safari.

The problem is that you haven't even bothered to read the built-in Help for Safari, nor look at your preferences for it. If you open Preferences>Bookmarks and uncheck the box where it says "Include bookmarks bar", then restart Safari, that should solve your problem.

You seem to be changing what you say you want. First you said you wanted to get rid of the Bookmarks Bar, and now you're saying you want to get rid of all your Bookmarks. Which goal are you trying to reach?

If you want to get rid of all your Bookmarks, quit Safari and go to ~/Library/Safari and delete the Bookmarks.plist file. But when you restart Safari, a default set of bookmarks are automatically created, which you can delete. But I don't see why you would want to do this, since you would never be able to go back to any site you visited previously.

That explains my previous statement. You can Command-Drag any bookmark item off the Bookmark Bar and it will disappear and not come back. If you're saying that yours are coming back, then something else is going on, since we already deleted and recreated the preferences file.
