Just wondering is it worth paying the £20 for pro? Does it help?
Also can u play region 1 DVD's on an ibook (i'm buying from uk, we're region 2)
Which is best messenger for compatibility with MSN and it's functions?
Also other than Microsoft Office, is NeoOffice or Openoffice better?

Thanks for any help

Actually VLC isn't aa very good program. If you use it knowing that you can't rely on it you should be fine, because my region is currently 1 and it doesnt seem to play many of my region 2 DVDs. You do get a set number of region changes (about 7, guessing) and then you need to get a hardware fix to set it back once you've used all your changes (which can be done 3 times i think). If you just want to use the one region though don't worry. All Apple laptops are fully capable of using any region regarless where you buy them from.

QuickTime Pro will not allow you to play any more types of files than the regular QuickTime Player will play. What the "Pro" option gives you is the editing and exporting features.

You can change your DVD region five times after the original setting. The VideoLAN Media Player does not rely on Apple's region manager and should play a DVD from any region without asking you to change. It is still beta software and it's being written by a school in France, so it's not like regular commercial software, it does have some rough edges. But, it's always played the Region 2 DVDs I have on my Region 1 PowerBook.

I am having trouble with the DVD player on my powerbook. I have changed the region to play an American DVD and now it won't let me change the region back. It keeps coming up with an error 70001. I just want set it back to Region 2 and NEVER change it again.

This is the only topic I could find that had people talking about DVD player.

Please somebody help!!

Are you an administrator on your PowerBook? At what point, exactly, do you see the error message? After you've put in a DVD? At an authentication screen where it's asking you for your name and password? After you agree to change the region? Are you absolutely certain you do still have some changes left? How old is your PowerBook? Is it still under warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan? It's possible it needs some kind of service.

You can always start a new topic of your own if you can't find the subject anywhere else yet. Since your subject is a bit different from the original topic, people who might be able to answer your question might not be looking inside this topic.

Yes I am an administrator on the computer. The message comes up once I have agreed to change the Region. It says I still have one last change before it becomes set permanently. I have had my powerbook for about 2 months. I don't know exactly but I assume it is out of warranty.

I couldn't start a new topic. There was no link to do so.
