LP9 Crashing on startup

Here's the crash log, anyone who's good with this stuff let me know what's going on! I had no probs with LP8, last time I had an issue was with Logic 5 (thank god!)

LP8 is still there under apps too, and launches fine; I bought the update version and have now done the update twice to see if that was the issue but the same problem is happening. And yes, I've repaired permissions!!!

Here is the crash report:

I was looking for something looking like this:
(EXAMPLE)

PID: 305
Thread: 0

Exception: EXC BADACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000064

Thread 0 Crashed:

Thread 1:
0 libSystem.B.dylib 0x9000af48 mach msgtrap + 8
etc.

So this is a different 'type' of crash...? Something to do with authorisations? Some image is missing, and therefore the XSKey library cannot be opened?...?
And what does 'dyld' mean?

Your installation of Logic Studio 2 failed for whatever reason. After the installation you should have /Library/Frameworks/XSKey.framework installed, but it doesn't seem to be there. There is no way in the installer to avoid that, so it must be something else.

What you can try is this:
1. Select "Install Logic Studio"
2. Press Command-R (Show Original in the File menu of the Finder)
3. Select the "Packages" folder
4. Open XSKey.pkg and install it manually

Try launching Logic again. But I still wonder if other things are missing, too.

OK, I solved the problem.

I never had the XSKey framework folder in Library/Framework

What I did was install the individual XSKey on an external drive to see if I could potentially copy the files over. Once installed it showed me that it installed two set of files, one in the Framework folder and another in Library/Receipts. which was the XSKey.pkg. This never showed up when I did a search for any XSkey files originally. This was also the file that was supposedly a newer version (even though dated from earlier in the year) that was stopping the XSkey installer from running. I removed this file re ran the XSKey installer as suggested earlier which now worked fine. Logic is now working.

Hope this helps.

So If ppl have this type of issue try this.

1. Delete old XSkey.pkg from Library/Receipts
2. 1. Select "Install Logic Studio"
3. Press Command-R (Show Original in the File menu of the Finder)
4. Select the "Packages" folder
5. Open XSKey.pkg and install it manually

Thanks to Blueberry for steps 2-5

Darren
