Can someone help me. I'm very confussed. Yesterday my itunes were working just fine and today I'm getting this trojan message from AVG and it will not allow me to open I itunes. I'm wondering if I should just uninstall itunes for a while. I have never dealt with this before.
There is nothing to worry about. It is a false positive. AVG messed up when they released their latest update. There are quite a few other threads about this that have solution in them.
Ok I've been reading everyone comments and there are alot of people saying to put itunes as an exception on AVG. I'm all great with that but my one concern is what if down the road there really is a virus out there. How long should I keep it as an exception?
It appears AVG has updated their definitions to prevent the itunes and ipod files from being tagged as trojans.
I had put mine in exceptions earlier. But just received my second AVG update of the day. I took the itunes/ipod exceptions out of Resident shield and rescanned the program files and voila - no trojans in the the itunes folder now. (Even though I had it earlier and never cleaned it up).
So If you did not uninstall itunes already, just updated your AVG again and you should be ok.
