If I sync Google Mail with Mail.app, does that sync to iPod Touch as well?

What I mean is, if I want Google Mail on my iPod Touch and Mac Mail, do I need to set it up for both, or just Mac Mail (and then sync that with iPod)?

MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (Late 2006), Mac OS X (10.5.7), 3 GB RAM
