I am ripping vinal albums and adding the music to my library. Of course the album art is not available. But, I can take a photo of the LP record cover. How can I attach a photo as album art in iTunes so it appears on my iPod Nano screen?
One option is to locate and copy the proper album cover photo(from somewhere such as Google or Amazon), locate and highlight the song (or songs) you wish to change the artwork for, right->click on them and choose *Get Info* from the menu.
When the window pops up, head over to either the
Info or
Artwork tab and paste the artwork in the empty box for artwork or if you have saved the artwork to your computer elsewhere, click the
Add button under the
Artwork tab.
To sync the album art to your iPod, head over to the Music tab for your iPod in iTunes when your iPod is plugged in, and check the box next to the option "include album artwork on this ipod." Lastly, hit
Apply to update the changes.
I know how its done. However, I am ripping very old vinal records. Some are 78 rpm. There is no art available on the internet for that. So, I want to use photographs of the album cover, or some other photograph to make my own album art. Possible?
You certainly can. Once you have taken the photographs and imported them to your computer, you can simply copy and paste the photo into either of the above mentioned areas from the Get Info window or use the Add button under the Artwork tab. iTunes will automatically resize the photo as necessary for both iTunes and the version it syncs to your iPod.
Here's what I'm doing: I have an album that I imported into my library from a vinal album. The tracks play beautifully on my iPod. In the library, I select all 24 tracks, right click, and click on Get Info. I paste a photograph (45KB jpg) into the box labled Artwork and I click on the checkbox associated with it. It shows the photo there. But it doesn't show in the libray or anywhere else.
What do you mean it doesn't show up in the library anywhere else? Or you referring to your iPod nano or your iTunes library?
Return to the
Artwork tab from the Get Info window in iTunes and verify that the album pic you pasted there remains. Try using the
Add button instead too and see if that helps.
Otherwise, just a few more details on exactly what you are doing would help narrow this problem. Let me know. 😉 And my apologies for misunderstanding your original question.
When I right click on multiple tracks in the library and click "get Info," I am directed to the "Multiple Item Information Screen." That screen has no Add button. It does have a place holder for Artwork on the right side. That's where I paste a photo. The photo shows in the box. I click on the check box which is associated with the Artwork box and then click on OK. That takes me back to the library. The default double eigths notes still is displayed where other albums show artwork.
I believe I found the answer. The files I added to my library were WAV files. That format apparently doesn't imbed photos. I converted the files to AAC files. All is happy happy. Thank you for your help.
I am in the same pickle! I have saved the photo of the 'album cover' I want to show with my tracks from an old record, but I can't transfer it to the Artwork column in iTunes. I highlighted a track in the desired track list and clicked on "Info", but there is no Artwork tab appearing anywhere. On other recordings this has appeared and there has been no problem, but for several albums I have transferred to iTunes (ready for sync-ing with my iPhone) there is no "Artwork" tab showing, and I cannot transfer the image I want to display.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be most welcome, so thank you in advance.
Select your files and right click and click on "Get Info." look at "Kind" if it says you have a WAV file, that is your problem. Back at the libray select your files, right click and selct "Create AAC Version." It will creat another file for each of the tracks. When it is done, your WAV files will still be selected. Don't deselect but right click again and select Delete. Once that is done what you have left will be the AAC files. Now, when you try to add art work, Voila!
I found out the problem - my music was stored as WAV files rather than the required MP3 format. Sorted that out and now artwork can be uploaded with no problems.
All the best,
Bill
