Downloading videos from camcorder to iMac G5

Hi. I just bought a panasonic camcorder yesterday, and when i tried importing a test video on to iMovie '09, it didn't work. I just got back from the store to return it. I heard that the Canon FS100 and 200 model camcorders support my computer. My model is G5. So, is the Canon FS200 the best choice for a G5 mac, and iMovie '09?
Thanks,

Welcome to the forums!

What constitutes 'the best camera for iMovie 9 and a G5 Mac' is a somewhat subjective issue, which has also been a subject of interest to me! 🙂

This may not be quite up to date but may assist you:

iMovie 9 - cameras supported:

I still use an analogue Hi8 Sony video camera which to continues to work perfectly with the older iMovie 6 via a Canopus analogue to digital converter, a setup which does not work with iMovie 9.

But if you are using a digital video camera you should not really encounter any major problems with iMovie 9.

Thanks for the info. The odd thing is that the Panasonic SDR-S26 appears in the chart, and that is the model I just had to return yesterday. The camera would not be recognized by my computer the majority of the times I connected it and when I did actually get the camera recognized and iMovie downloaded, the clips are empty in iMovie. Is it something I am doing wrong? The memory card is 8 GB so that should not be the problem. Thanks for your interest.
