Exporting photos from iPhoto 9 is always one small size, why?

I have photos in my iPhoto library that have been taken at 640X800 or 800X600 or larger. Any export combination I try gives me the same small sized output. I try to export from the enlarged photo as well as the thumbnail. In earlier versions, say 6, you could change the size of the exported picture. How do I get the regular sized photos? Help.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7), iMovie 9

Well iPhoto cannot export files larger than it actually has, so that explains why the large export produces a file the same as a small. Those 240 x 180's are only thumbnails.

It looks like iMovie09 didn't import the photos correctly. Anyone familiar with that?

By iMovie, I presume you mean iPhoto, yes?

When you import to iPhoto is simply copies in he file. It does not compress it in any way. It then makes a thumbnail of the pic for display in the iPhoto Window. It seems to me that you have replaced the original files with the thumbnails. We've seen reports of folks doing this kind of thing with iPhoto 6.

With my old PC, I could go to Facebook directly and upload photos from My Computer. I just bought my first Mac and was very impressed with the iPhoto program until it came to uploading onto Facebook.

I haven't tried the Facebook Uploader in iPhoto because I didn't want to upload the entire album to FB and I didn't see an option for uploading selected images. I have seen in another thread that the capability does exist.

When uploading directly within FB, the photos appear small. I saw on some other threads that someone may be accidentally uploading the thumbnail instead of the real image. I don't think that is my case. I also haven't seen any option for resizing exported photos within iPhoto or resizing imported photos within FB.

Does anyone know why my uploaded photos appear small in Facebook?
Thanks!

Simply select the photo(s) you want to upload and click on the FaceBook icon in the tool bar at the bottom

first off Facebook does not handle large photos - when you upload to FB by the time the photos are displayed they will be small and pretty much unusable for anything but FB display

In any upload using a browser you choose the photos by looking in the media browser at the lower left - media ==> photos ==> iPhoto and choose there to get the correct version

I also haven't seen any option for resizing exported photos within iPhoto or resizing imported photos within FB.

Select the photo and go to file ==> export and you will get the full sized photo from iPhoto

You can reduce the size during an export by selecting custom size during export

This is interesting. I do not have the problem myself, using Leopard or Tiger, but a friend has recently purchased a MacBook with Snow Leopard and there any attempt to send a photo from iPhoto through the email button results in only a small attachment being included in the resulting email message (in Apple's own Mail application), irrespective of the size selected in iPhotos dialogue box. The size of attachment option at the bottom right of the email message only allows Small to be selected (other options are greyed out).
If anyone is interested, I shall give more details in a later post (I don't have immediate access to the MacBook, but will visit the friend and do some tests).
