You could try to send it in to apple, and they could either repair it or send you a replacement iPod. If you do manage to get it to the Home screen and problems still arise, you could go to Settings, then reset everything. (This can delete all your media and will take around an hour. It is more effective then just resetting the settings.) I recommend sending it in, however.
