I want to list all documents with the orange label using a Smart Folders. It's not working. I changed the text on the orange label to "Current Projects". One major thing I noticed - the new names for the file labels are not showing up in the smart folder search dialogue. I do see the new names when I check the label names in Finder Preferences.

I also tried using the Get Info comments field to search for "Current Project" in the comments field. This isn't working either.

Any suggestions?

    I'm not quite sure what you are doing, but if you want to find something with a label, hit Command-F and then click the double arrows next to the Kind criterion, and slide down to "Other..." and from the list select "File label" and click on the color of the label. AFAIK Spotlight doesn't list the name of the label, but just the color, which is indexed by a number. Thus the red color is actually indexed by Spotlight as

    kMDItemFSLabel = 6

    The names you assign the labels in Finder Preferences are just for your convenience in remembering what each label you give is supposed to mean. Spotlight only cares about the actual color of the label. So if you have called a label "Current Projects" but don't remember the color, you can look it up in the Preferences, note that it is orange, then in your search you click on the orange square of the "File label" search criterion.
