Seems to be a problem with Safari 4 Mac and going back to the previous page after scrolling down a bit on an eBay page. Instead of going to the previous page when the back button is clicked, first the current page refreshes, then the next back click takes me to the previous page.
I see the same thing, especially on the NY Times site. It doesn't require any scrolling -- you need to click twice on the back button to actually go back to the previous page. Otherwise, it stays on the same page.
Having the same problem. Running OS 10.5.8 and Safari 4.0.3, have to click the back button twice to get back to the previous page. No help from ebay, "must be a (with a snarl) Apple problem". No help from Apple either. Thank God we are so lame and lazy that they know we will just sit down on our Fat B...s and just keep surfing.
Has anyone found a workaround for this annoying problem yet? I don't really want to use Firefox as there are other features of Safari I really like. Please sort it out Apple.
I had the same problem. Instead of using your browser's back button, use the eBay "return to (name of previous page)" link, which is located under the eBay logo on the top left side of the page. This will return you to whatever your last page was with one click. The fact that eBay has provided this link may indicate that this is not an uncommon problem.
