Converting .eml and .docx files

Normally I can convert most attachments people send but can't find an app to open either of these formats. Any suggestions?

It's SO nice to be able to send anything as a .pdf so those darn PCers can read it. We love our Macs!!

Hi Betsy,

yeah right, PDF would be so much easier.

Anyway, for the .eml files have a look here http://filext.com/faq/decodeemlfiles.php

Docx files are 'produced' by the 2007 Windows Word version and the 2008 Mac Word version.
If you don't have any Word version installed on your Mac, you can use OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/

If you have an older 2004 version of Word installed on your Mac, then you can use this Microsoft Tool to open docx files http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B973585&x=7&y=11

Hope it helps

Stefan

Did you try OpenOffice?

I've used most every Mac word processor over the years, said "no" to Microsoft (even though it was Word 3.02 actually that got me to buy an SE/30) and I really find I like Windows Office 2007 (and better than the Mac counter-part). Never thought I would.

An open mind is a horrible thing to waste! And OOd can open and save as most formats. Programs are just tools, find the tool that does best job.

Stefan,

Thanks for the answer however I avoid all things Microsoft so it doesn't solve my dilemma. I'll just keep asking people to send in a different format.

Hi Betsy,

have you had a look at OpenOffice ?
It's like Microsoft Office with Microsoft, so to speak 😉
In fact it is based on Suns StarOffice.

I use it very often when getting Word or Excel files send and for my own documents and spreadsheets.
It's free to use.

Stefan
