Since 3 days now my iphone 3G(3.0) can not connect to a wireless network. Before it connect automatically at home or at work but now it says "Unable to join network". I have reset the network even restore my iphone to default settings. Still it can not connect to a wireless network. But what I dont understand is that it finds wireless networks but can not connect to it even to a free wireless network it keeps on displaying "Unable to join network"
I have called AppleCare they told me to do thesame things I have done.
Any body having thasame problem? Is it hardware or software problem? Please can any body help me? iPhone is no good without wifi...

Did you read this article "Tips when using WIFI": http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 ?

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 3GS.

Connecting to the Wi-Fi in my office worked a treat for the first few weeks of getting the new iPhone. Now, I get 'unable to connect to the network "xx"' message. The guy who sits behind, he just got the same phone last week and his is working fine.

I've scoured the net for advice, seen all the similar posts and tried the all the steps Apple suggest and nothing works. The only option left is to return it. Very disappointed

Since 100.000s of iPhone-users are affected by this problem (every 5th to 10th), I think it will be resolved by the next software-upgrade in august.

Hi Ingo2711, I have tried all the steps in that article before posting my message. I dont think the problem is from the router settings or any wireless network issue because other iPhones and laptops are connected to thesame router & my iphone use to connect automatically before few days ago. Now it take some time before it can discover wireless network & when it fines it, its Unable to join the network.
I try to downgrade my iphone to OS 2.2.1 that was working fine but there is no way I could do that.
I dont think is a hardware problem because if it is, it can not discover any wireless network & if it is a software problem, I think the easy way is to downgrade to the old version that was working fine. Till Apple fine a solution to the OS 3.0 wifi.
Please what do you think I should do?

I never tried to downgrade, but I found this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1898584&tstart=0
Did 3.0.1 change the phone's wifi behavior?

nope, 3.0.1 has not fixed the problem yet, but they better do something about it soon, because this is pretty annoying!

    Hi,
In Europe too ( France for me ) we do have the same problem with wifi connection since we've made the 3.0 upgrade.
In Apple we trust ............. sometimes

If all customers all around the world decide to have their Iphone
Changed by a new one , I think Apple is in great Danger.

Wrong.....Just upgraded to 3.01 and the WIFI issue got worse. It is now permanently greyed out (No WiFi). I performed the reset and restore routines to no avail. Since my phone is out of warrentee.....apple wants me to fork over $200 for a used phone.

My 3G phone is from France, and i got the same problem last week and overnight. The problem did not happen right after 3.0 upgrade, but like couple of weeks. 3.0 worked perfectly for weeks, but then, i woke up one day and i could not join the network i just used last night. So is 3.0 to blame?

And Apple is mute about this problem and there is no acknowledgement of this.

Both my husband's and my 2G iphones have very spotty wifi connectivity after upgrading to 3.0. The phones revert to edge all the time and do not see the
networks either at home or work. My MAC does not have any problem at all.
    Very frustrating.

Since I DL 3.0.1 I haven't been able to connect either and when it tried to connect via 3G it times out so basically I have a really expensive cell phone. I am annoyed... any suggestions? Should I Downgrade?

I'd try restoring it first. To test it restore it as a new phone (not from your backup) and see if it makes a difference.
