Speed of 3gs

The network speed should be the same, they both use the same 8.211g connection. The actual processor in the 3GS is faster than the 3G so you may notice some difference in running the actual apps.

The 3GS also has more internal memory, faster video, etc. The result is much faster loading and execution of apps.

I have 2 laptops (a slow one and a fast one). On our home network, I notice web pages pop up quicker on the faster one even though both use the same DSL hookup.

So, apparently this is caused by the faster processor rendering the graphics quicker. While I no longer have my old 3G to compare to the new 3G S, I believe the 3G S does bring up pages quicker.

However, we're only talking about a few seconds at most and hardly reason to replace a 3G IF that's the only reason you're thinking of getting a new 3G S.

I upgraded from a 3G to a 3GS, there may be slight difference in speed loading a web page on a wifi, but the difference is pretty slight.

It's faster because it's processor is ~200MHz faster than the 3G and has more RAM. If you ever used a computer you should know more RAM = stuff runs smoother and faster.

It's network speeds are the same, but it can render web pages and launch stuff at a faster speed.

I was surprised when I ran a 3G and a 3GS side by side. For me there was a massive difference in the time it took to display web pages. The 3GS does feel faster but you only really notice how much faster with the two phones side by side.

Interesting, I'll have to give it a try. My daughter is using my old 3G, do I'll do a side by side test when I have a chance.

My 3G[S] is consistently 2-300kb faster than my 3G was. I speed tested it the same day I got it. And under Wi-Fi, Ive never gotten 3768kbps out of my 3G on Wi-Fi. Got that consistently the first day I had my phone. I usually get 1400+ on 3G. I think 1567kbps is one of my higher ones. 1100 was about my limit on my 3G. The 3G[S] is setup to run on the 7.2 network unlike the older 3G

When out of the 3G coverage area and using Edge, both should perform about the same...again other than the fact you may see a bit better performance out of the 3Gs due to the increased processor and RAM etc...
