Lost the screw for my video card.

Same as the one holding the slot cover on one of the open slots.

Are you sure it didn't fall inside the machine? That would be bad.

Me too I lost it in the case . I dropped it in there somewhere . I only have one screw holding my video card . I' m lazy and dont want to get it out , It stuck in there somewhere .

I had the same problem, must be a black hole in there that ***** up dropped slot screws,you might try a self tapping screw close to the diameter of the hole or take one of the slot cover screws to a hardware store to see if you can match it. I found a screw in my misc screw box on my work bench that worked fine. I now use one of those screw grabber tools you find in a computer tool kit that are cheap to buy to insert or remove the screw when lose.

Hi! Throw the computer in the trash. If you don't find the screw it WILL eventually short it out and destroy the motherboard so you might as well trash it now if your too lazy to find it. Tom

Maybe someday I 'll Look for it but for now I'm to lazy to look for now.. But latter on I will open it up and look for it .Yes I am aware I t can short the motherboard . It nowhere near the motherboard anyway . It lodged in there safe .

You do realize that any time you have a problem we will be asking whether or not you have extracted that screw.

Until it is out it will be presumed to be the cause of all of your problems.

I thought you said you had a background in electronics or something. Not losing screws in machines is on page 5 of the beginner's manual.

I don think so . We all drop a screw at one point in are life . I no where its at and not in danger of damaging my computer . Its stuck and wont come out , if you think I should take my computer apart your nuts . Im not at least concerned about it at all , if I was I would have removed it in the first place .

Yes I do have some experience in electronics , but not that much to call my self a tech .I would rather Do some type of Maintenance work than worry about electronics repair . I would care less about that type of stuff . Most of the electronics are junk today anyway , and not made very well . I think at one point in time are companies from america made very good equipment like in the 1980's. Apple made very good equipment was well built and alot of its still running today . Grant you that its not as fast as today , but its still rock sold built .


So I'm getting away from the original post on the lose screw . I dont want to fine it at this time .I have only one screw holding up my video card and its working fine .I dont go pulling on it like a monkey .
