Does iZotope Ozone 4 work with Final Cut?

Hello all:

I have been hearing good things about an audio mastering plugin called Ozone 4. I would like to use it in Final Cut Pro to fix audio gremlins on the fly (or even add them).

I tried downloading the trial version but that proved to be a frustrating experience as a pop up window kept, well, popping up. The infernal thing kept asking me for serial numbers, etc.

The Ozone parameter did show up in the audio filters pulldown on the FCP menu so at least I know it was recognized.

So before I shell out the dough can someone let me know if Ozone 4 actually works with Final Cut.

I have emailed IZotope but apparently they don't talk to mortals.

Here are my specs:

Mac G5 (Power PC dual processor)
Mac OS 10.4.11
FCP version 6.06

Many thanks

A

I have the full version of Ozone4. Hadn't really thought about using it in FCP, it was bought for use with Logic Audio.

When I add the filter in to FCP, I just see a massive list of settings in the filters tab, and am not sure if you can get to the Ozone interface

I'll have to see if you can in SoundTrack Pro. Without that interface, not sure if it would be very useful.

I've been using Ozone for years. It is a fantastic tool. However forget about running it in Final Cut. There is no way you will be able to get the most out of it manipulating sliders in the Filters Tab of the Viewer. Final Cut does not run the native UI's for plugins.

Your best best is to install the plugin and use it in Soundtrack Pro. You will have access to the full Ozone interface and controls. You can Export out through it in a Multitrack Project or apply processing parameters to files (Process/Effects/iZotope/Ozone 4) in the Audio File (Wave Editor) workspace.

kind of what I figured. It's designed for a sound program, so use SoundTrack Pro.

BTW - if you check out the Logic Pro discussion group, Ozone is one of the probably top 5 'must have' plug-ins. Very cool for audio.

They also have a number of tech notes on their site that are interesting.

Also - check out Izotope's Rx. http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/rx/ You'll immediately see the uses for it with on-location sound recording.
