International Gift Cards

Hi there,

I live in the UK and would like to purchase a gift card for my brother-in-law who lives in Canada and who purchased his i-Pod there. Will a gift card bought in the UK in sterling work in Canada or should I be buying the gift card in Canadian Dollars. If so can someone tell me where I purchase one from!!

Apple recently started allowing "cross-border" sales in the UK to 15 European countries. Sadly, Canada is not on the list.
You should be able purchase an iTunes gift card thru the online Apple Store (not the iTunes store) and have it sent to someone in those countries.

To use the Canadian iTunes Store, it's advisable to purchase within Canada, as the UK giftcard will only work for the UK iTunes Store.

Still you may find it on Ebay for inflated prices, however you can buy couple of UK giftcards & set up a UK account for him. so than he can use it whenever he wants.

There are no international iTunes gift cards because there is no international iTunes Store. There are a bunch of individual national iTunes stores, each requiring residency in that country.

You may wish to consider some other form of gift.

I dont understand why you cant at least buy a gift card internationally - and select the specific country it is required for use in... that wont infringe rights - Amazon.UK allow you to buy a gift card from Canada for someone in the UK... and vice versa...come on ITunes this is the 21st Century .... for a normally advanced company you are sadly behind the times in this global economy of ours!!

Because you are infringing rights if you purchase from a different country.
