GSM CSD (Circuit Switched Data) support.

Hello iPhone Experts!

I have a technical question about the GSM modem of the the 3GS iPhone series.
According to the technical sheet from the iPhone 3GS on pdadb.net, the hardware should
support CSD calls.

On the site of ifixit.com there is a teardown document for the iPhone. My problem is to make the
link between the components used, and the possibility, that CSD calls are supported.

Furthermore, there must be an API for IPhone OS that maps the according AT Commandos to an interface, developers can use. However, I did not find such an API or an indication that there could be one.

I know, CSD is no more widely used for a long time now. 🙂

There is also a legal question about CSD calls. Could there be laws against the usage of CSD calls in the USA?

I would be very pleased if someone could share some information, if available.

I agree (I put also a post in the dev board)!
I'd like to get information from the Apple technical support... or whatever instance one would ask. However, I do not have these contacts. Nothing against Apple, but Nokia e.g. did answer one hour after my mail, and for free. Ok there are worse examples like Sony Ericsson, wich told me that these topics are top secret and that I will not get further info. 😉

So I am curious too!
