Spinning beach ball with Safari 4.02?

I don't have the answer but have the same problem. Going back to the previous version may solve it.

I found the problem with Safari for me. I ran a virus scan using ClamXav and it found a e-mail that contained a spoofed website. I deleted the 5 files it had infected and Safari is back to normal.

I have the same problem. I also just run a virus scanner (ClamXav) on the whole hard drive - I presume that included the e-mail, and nothing was found. Pretty annoying.

"Safe Mode"???? How do you boot into safe mode? I don't see a Safe Mode anywhere. Please excuse me though I am computer illiterate when it comes to these things.

Go to this web site and it will tell you how to do a safe boot.

My new 13 inch macbook pro suffered badly from the persistent spinning beach-ball in Safari. fixing permissions didnt help.... and there is no "virus" lol
but.....
The boot into safemode, login and restart seems to have worked so far! Thanks!

Try deleting the Syndication Database File(s) in user/Library/Syndication. In my case I had 2 files in that folder, "Database3" and "Database3.BROKEN". Deleted both and restarted, and my 2 months of suffering through beachballs upon the first launch of Safari following every computer restart are now over!! And yes, I tried all the other "solutions" out there....this fixed it for me, and was the only thing that had ANY effect whatsoever.
