iTunes & AirTunes Error -15000

I used to be able to play iTunes music through my stereo using AirTunes without any problems. Now whenever I try to select the remote speakers I get the following error message:
"An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "airport express". An unknown error occurred (-15000)."
I'm guessing that one of the iTunes upgrades I installed has messed it up, but I don't know which one. I know for sure that it worked with iTunes 7.

I am using the following equipment & versions:
Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.7
iTunes 8.2.1
AirPort Express Firmware 7.4.2

I have already searched the support forum and tried the following without success:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2278 - my IPv6 and firewall are set correctly
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2277 - am already using the latest AiPort Express firmawre

Anyone have ideas or suggestions for fixing this?

Just updated to 10.5.8 and having same problems here, though everything is up to date, same as above. iTunes will not connect at all to my remote speakers. Error -15000 every single time. Very unhappy as I haven't had any problems with AirTunes like I used to have before iTunes 8. Switching IPv6 on or off has no effect, firware is up to date.

Also hoping for any suggestions or fixes for this. Apple?

I posted this answer in another thread but it seems you have been having problems more recently so I thought I'd post here too. I've had the same problem with the (-15000) error message when trying to connect to my stereo speakers using airtunes after upgrading to iTunes 8. I tried all sorts of "fixes" such as updating (even downgrading) my firmware several times, changing my firewall to allow all incoming connections (although now I have it set with permission for iTunes) and even restoring and reprogramming my Airport Express...all to no avail..
I found the answer from a guy running vista but I'm on a macbook running OS X 10.5.8 and the answer is here:

I found a solution (workaround)!!!!

Open up preferences and under the devices uncheck Look for remote speakers with AirTunes.
Hit OK and Close iTunes.
Open iTunes and go back to your preferences and check Look for remote speakers with AirTunes.
Hit OK and you should be set to stream to your AirPort Express
So, it seems the issue has to do with iTunes, not your AirPort Express.

iTunes 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 still an issue.

I am running Vista Home Premium.

I’ve noticed this happening everytime my Airport Express gets unplugged while iTunes is running.

THANK-YOU Scott!!!
Hope it works for you all too!!

I am having the exact same problem - it was working fine last night, it was until I updated to the latest version of iTunes this morning. Now I get the error consistently. I have tried the whole iTunes suggestion listed on the link below - that's not the problem. I can see my Aiport Express speaker - I just can not connect to it at all. I have upgraded my Airport Express as well and tried all sorts of Firewall settings, etc - nothing seems to work - this *****! Anyway have any luck?

Ummm - I FIGURED IT OUT!!! This is the most bizzare thing in the world. It seems that the new OSX 10.5.8 or the update iTunes is screwing things over with the battery somehow.
If my laptop is not plugged in (powered by the battery) I CAN NOT stream music through Aiport Express. I just brought my laptop back in my room, plugged it into the charger and it works.
I just did a quick test - it works flawlessly while it is plugged in however, if I remove the plus and try to stream the music through Airport Express it does not work.
The internet connection on Airport Express works the entire time, whether or not the device is plugged in to the charger.

That's just outright messed up - if indeed the new Apple upgrades are causing this! Try it - hopefully it works for you guys.

xtfer - I tried your solution as before I figured out the plug thing...it only works temporarily but once you stop the stream, it fails again. I have been reading others posts and posted this on other forums as well and it seems the plug thing is a hardware glitch the new OSX drivers have caused. Just have to wait for Apple to fix this now I guess.
