After re-install - get faces back?

I had to do a complete system re-install (per Apple Support) to fix a modem issue.

I updated all my software. I've got all my old files in "Previous Systems". I ran IMPORT on the old photo file. But how do I get all my faces back? I've got over 30,000 photos and I've spent a LOT of time marking the faces. PLEASE tell me there is a way to get them back!

TIA, Jennifer

Do you mean you imported your old iPhoto Library into a new one?

That's the wrong thing to do - as well as losing all your albums, keywords and faces data, you'll have massive duplication.

To restore an iPhoto Library simply put it in the Pictures Folder and launch iPhoto. That's all.

You do not ever Import an iPhoto library into iPhoto

Quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library from the pictures folder (default location) to the trash (if you have a large enough disk to continue do not empty the trash until you have finished restoring your iPhoto library) and then drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the previous system folder to the pictures folder - launch iPhoto and you will have you r old iPhoto back exactly the way it was, faces and all

After fully testing it empty the trash to get rid of the bad one you created by importing the old library into the new one (note that not only does importing an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library not retain faces but it does not retain albums, folder, books and has massive duplications)
