Chase has said that they are having an issue with Safari and viewing online pdf statements. Works in Firefox, but not Safari. They do not know when the issue will be fixed. FYI to anyone.

I'm seeing the same thing with my Chase account. It's only the PDF statements. The rest of the site works fine. For me opening PDF statements sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work. Sometimes if I try loading the same statement three or four times it will finally work. Other times not. This has been going on for a long time. Who knows.

Hi

I have no problem viewing my Chase statement on Safari 4.0.2. I'm using PDF Browser Plug-in as my PDF viewer. One possibility: there may be a compatibility problem with Safari's Preview viewer.

I'm using the Adobe plugin and have the issue. The Schubert plugin has always been a top notch piece of coding. I may have to try it again.

Well, I emailed Chase, the response below is what I got. For me, I am using Safari 402. When you click on a statement, you mostly just get a blank screen. It works fine with Firefox. I would rather stay with Safari.
If the below is Chase's viewpoint, Apple might want to give them a call!!

From Chase Technical Support:
"While reviewing your email you specified that you are
using Safari to access your information. Unfortunately,
Safari has been made uncompatable with our website, there
are some things you are able to do and some things you are
not able to do. We would ask that you would please go to
www.firefox.comand download the browser, if you do not
already have it. Firefox is a free browser, good browser
for Apple computers, and is compatible with our website."

It's not just PDF statements, I think it's to do with downloading anything from Chase when you're logged in.

This happens to me in Safari when trying to download my statements in OFX, QIF, Microsoft Money etc. I get to here by clicking Customer Center -> Tools -> "Activate Money, Quicken, etc." (Click) -> Download Now (Click) -> Enter in values, and click 'Download Activity'

Then when I try to download any statements I get the following:

Downloads opens up and it loads:

JPMC.OFX
14.8 KB of ? - error

I've had other errors in the past such as really long NSURL... messages, but my only solution is to use Firefox, as it works in Firefox (3.5)

And I thought I was all alone with this problem. I actually use Firefox and have not been able to view a pdf downloaded Chase statement. The error says that it is not a properly formatted pdf.

I have attempted this on 3 different macs, using 10.4.11 and 10.5 and 10.6. I have attempted Safari, Acrobat Reader, Preview and even Photoshop. All come up with the same general error of a improperly formatted pdf.

I have talked to Chase customer service and they blame the issue on Apple. What does Firefox have to do with Apple? This is not a browser issue as far as I am concerned. It is a Chase issue.

What's even more frustrating is that I have requested to be taken off the list for online statements and to have my statements mailed to me. I still get email notifications that my online statement is ready for download and never get a mailed statement. I have been to my local Chase bank and have been shown the settings on my account where I am supposed to get statements mailed to me.

I pretty much just get a shoulder shrug now from Chase.

I have the same problem...no problem viewing pdfs, but can't download the QIF files...I use camino instead.

Oh and there are two things you can do for pdfs...first click on safari app>get info>check the 32 bit mode bix...second...~/library/internet plug-ins...delete the pdf plugins (schubert and adobe)...may be in user library or hd library.
