transfering video from panasonic nv-ds25

hi
i am having a lot of trouble getting footage across from my camera (panasonic nv-ds25). i am using a firewire cable, but no matter how many times i change the format in fce, the computer doesn't seem to find the camera. i have been able to get footage across before but it has stopped working. can anyone help me?
