how to register ipod touch

i just got my ipod touch. when i plugged it into the computer, itunes asked me to register it. i clicked create new account, one to be different from the account i'm on now, and cancelled partway through. purchased items won't download to my ipod as it says the computer is not authorized, even though it is. how do i register my ipod?

Why not register it to your current iTunes account? Why do you want to create a new account? All your current purchases are connected to the account you used to make them.

have you clicked 'authorise computer' under the store menu? (top of the screen)

i wanted to create a new account because my brother is using my account with his roomates at college as well as my family at home. i'm leaving home for college this fall, so i just wanted to make sure i could keep track of everything.

and yes, i've tried deauthorizing and reauthoring my computer
