There are a few related keyboard and mouse documents, articles
and perhaps also some relevant downloads regarding these, here:

Apple - Support - Keyboard + Mouse:
http://www.apple.com/support/keyboard/

A) Since there was a keyboard update for the wired aluminum USB
keyboard, (firmware update 1.0) dated: 08 April 2009.

• Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0
http://support.apple.com/downloads/AluminumKeyboard_Firmware_Update_10

B) Do you have the Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse? There was
an update (bluetooth firmware update 2.0) available, this: 17, June 2009.

• Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0 (keyboard & mouse)
http://support.apple.com/downloads/BluetoothFirmware_Update_20

Depending on the actual hardware and OS version your computer is
running, the answers could vary, as could your mileage: A disclaimer.

Hopefully these will cover the topic...
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

You may be able to use Software Update to determine the correct
firmware update for the new USB aluminum keyboard. If you are
not familiar with the process, the links about the two different
firmware updates have some information, and also the download
items themselves will also have more.

And in Software Update re: http://www.apple.com/softwareupdate/
you can see the version number of an update and then use the
correct stand-alone link (such as those given for USB keyboard)
as posted above, to get the same update as a separate download.
You should not need to get the item separate from Software Update.

The newly acquired keyboard may be able to tell you what the
current as-shipped firmware version is, by using the System
Profiler in your computer when attached to the keyboard, and
see under the hardware (USB) if the product info given shows
this new keyboard's firmware version; or a reference to it.

And since the new keyboard supports OS X 10.4.10 to 10.5.x
any keyboard shortcuts and settings in the keyboard preference
panel, as well as any which appear in the Keyboard Viewer,
naturally should be available to you. There may be some regional
differences in what characters are available, depending on your
language choice(s) and the keyboard type you own, if not english.
Plus, there are many standard Mac keyboard combinations to use.

Hopefully all these words will be of help...
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

If your computer is attached to the keyboard, according to the
above article (and others) it should be able to use the System's
automatic Software Update feature to look for and find the latest
applicable updates to the keyboard and the computer.

Your computer would have to be running OS X 10.4.10 or Later
for the Software Update utility to find updates for these products.

The suggested link immediately above is for a 2007 year product
so the update in it may be too old if yours is a newer date keyboard.
The keyboard product number may be much longer & look like this:
Apple Model #: 661-4326 MB110LL/A A1243

The Software Update could be run in OS X 10.4.10 or Later and
see if you get a match, at least in title of suggested download;
then use the connective links from the Keyboard + Mouse page
if you need to have a stand-alone download page address.

In any event, one of these should do the job...
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
