outdoor display mode?

Is there a way to make my iBook display just greyscale like my Palm? I'd like to use it outdoors. It's screen is nearly washed out in sunlight, but I can read my Palm without a problem. Seems like there should be something in "Displays," but the only options I see under "Colors" appear to be other color settings, not anything that will give me better legibility in sunlight. Any ideas?

Jerilyn,

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

The reason why your Palm is more readable in sunlight is not because it's greyscale, but because of the kind of screen it uses. In low-lighting however, the Mac screen beats it out. It's a trade-off really.

Since most people use their screens indoors or in the shade, the iBook wasn't designed to look good in sunlight. Sorry! It's just a screen limitation.
