iPhone car charger not working

I have a car charger for my iPhone (I believe made by AT&T). It was working fine a couple days ago, but now when I plug in my phone it either does nothing or says something like, "This accessory is not made to work with the iPhone."

I don't know if this is relevant, but I'm out of town right now, so I have not had the chance to update my software to 3.0.1 (or whatever the new update is).

Any clues? Thanks

Your car charger may have been purchased at an AT&T store, but I don't believe AT&T manufacturers any car chargers.

Check the dock connector on your iPhone for any foreign material, and it may not take much.

Or the car charger may have a defect and has failed. The car charger should include a warranty and depending on when it was purchased, it may remain under warranty.
