Error -9812

About three days ago I was no longer able to download any of my application updates in iTunes (and therefore sync them to my iPhone) because I keep getting a -9812 error stating, "Could not purchase "(fill in app name here)". An unknown error occurred (-9812)."

It says there was an error in the iTunes Store and to try back again, but this has been constant now for three days.

I can get the updates directly from my iPhone through the App Store app using a WiFi connection, but iTunes on my MacBook Pro refuses to connect to the store.

Any thoughts/suggestions here how to resolve this?

Thanks!

I'm getting exactly the same thing - When I try to 'Log In' to iTunes Store or start 'Home Sharing' I now get 'We could not complete ... -9812". Only started in the past few days when I upgraded to 9.0.2, and it only happens on the MacBook Pro. My WinXP Desktop works fine, as does my iPod Touch - and if I create a new user on the laptop, I can use my iTunes account fine as well! It just seems to be this user on the laptop.

I've tried creating a new 'Network Location' as well as running Keychain first-aid, but still no joy.

I did email Apple iTunes support but unfortunately all I got was a broken link to the iTunes discussions and a link to the XP faults page.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks - M

financeman,

I do my work on an imac every day but don't claim to be any kind of troubleshooting expert, but I did have this same error (-9812) and (-9813) on two different imacs both running leopard. I contacted the iTunes store and they are no help unless there is a problem with your account. If the problem is in your computer you have to solve it yourself. After reading many posts and doing the Keychain Access checks, I decided to call my son (also has imac running Leopard) and asked him to send me the files he had in System/Library/Keychains.

He had 5 files:
EVRoots.plist
SystemCACertificates.keychain
SystemRootCertificates.keychain
SystemTrustSettings.plist
X509Anchors

Both my imacs had nothing in that folder (don't know why). I put those files in that same folder, restarted and iTunes worked.

My advise is to get in touch with someone running the same OS you are running and have them send you those files.

I had tried numerous suggestions from other people and nothing had worked till I did this.

Hope this helps.
