For those using a G4 as a Media Server

I have finally got my G4 Dual 533 set up and running great in the Living room on my Network. My issue is that outside of Itunes and Hulu Desktop what other options are available to easily watch my media with little Keyboard and Mouse use? Unfortunately Plex, and Boxee can not be installed on a non-Intel Mac. I dont mind using Front row but I would like to really just have one interface to watch everything instead of having to switch depending on what I am watching. Thanks in advance.

Hi-

Using a Keyspan RF remote is one touch to Front Row, and full control from there.
It also works for volume and browsing in iTunes and DVD player.
I really like mine with my QS 2002 media center.

This remote gives you even more freedom.

I don't quite understand this statement.
Maybe it has to do with your file storage, but any media item from your Home folder (Movies, Photos, Music) will be available in Front Row.

Alternative software would be MediaCentral or CenterStage

In applications such as plex or boxee you can access hulu, netflix and several other streaming media sources right from the one application. Otherwise you would have to use front row for local media and iTunes stuff then switch to hulu desktop for example for the Internet stuff. Unfortunately plex and boxee only run on Inel macs, so my question was if there was a PPC alternative.

Hi-

Here is for Hulu Windows:

XMBC Hulu plug in:

a mac.. which should be able to run webkit with the flash plugin.. at that point.. all that needs to be done is to translate remote actions into keyboard/mouse events that are performed at the right coordinates on the browser window.
