Problem with autofill in forms on Safari

I love having Safari auto fill forms for me. It saves me a lot of time but sometimes, depending on how they are made I suppose, it totally screws up my postal code and I can not edit it. Every time I finish manually fixing the info, it just goes back to the garbled wrong information. When this happens I can not submit the form at all and end up using my husband's PC which is HIGHLY annoying.

How can I fix this?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

I cannot get autofill to work at all. Above you say to:

"click safari -> preferences -> autofill
disable it, fill out the form, submit, then re-enable it"

There is no form, only choices of using address book, user names or other. When I check address book it turns on. I click on my own card and it opens the card. There is no "form" as in older versions or in Explorer to fill out for autofill.

Hi

Welcome to Apple Discussions

I would think it would be highly annoying to have a PC in the house. 😉

On a more serious note, Auto-fill depends on how the page/form is coded by the site developer. Some are very PC focused, which can create problems on a Mac.

Possible workaround: if you haven't done so, open Safari Preferences>Auto-fill. Select "edit" next to Other forms. There, remove the specific page not filling correctly. Close the panel.

Safari Menu>Empty Cache.

Now enter the URL(s) and complete the form again. See if that resolves the problem.

"You have to select "Autofill form" from the Edit menu or add the autofill button to your toolbar."
I never saw this before and...

I found that within Address Book you need to highlight your personal card then go under "Card" in the menu and select "Make This My Card". Then it should all work. Still, it would have been easier for ALL to just have a "form" pref within Safari to fill in once with this information.
