iso mpeg-4 Video, V1

I have a number of asf files that play ok in windows media player.

Info says that the video is: iso mpeg-4 Video, V1

These will not play in quicktime. I have flip4mac and Divx installed.

Following a search of this forum I followed a link to PSPware. The downloaded program converted the movies to quicktime files that Quicktime now opens. Movie info show it as mpeg -4 video

So I can now deal with these movies OK

Question - is there a third party codec that will enable quicktime to open the original files directly? I have quicktime pro version 7.0.1.

Will QT 7.0.2 open these? I am a bit wary of the update as I don't want to break Divx which appears to work ok for me at the moment despite reports that it shouldn't with Tiger

I downloaded the update but it didnt work at first. In response to your reply I tried a restart and it now works OK. Thanks for the prompt.

You're very welcome. Oh, you do need to quit and relaunch QuickTime Player every time you install a new coded.

I know that they say Divx 5 doesn't work with QT 7 but it does here.

Yes, I reverted to DivX 5.1. V. 5.2 had too many incompatibility issues.

Check my review of QuickTime 7 at http://gmtranslations.com/qt7.html.
