incoming text message alerts

Hello,
I have posted previously regarding the fact that there are only 6 short lame sounds available for new text message alerts. No option to use legal ringtones that play longer and multiple alerts if missed. All my previous dumb phones had a large assortment. I followed the advice of someone responding to this and sent the request to Apple to add/enhance the alert sounds and never heard anything back. Has anyone ever recieved a response from Apple when they have sent a request for improvments/enhancments? Wondering if it does any good or they just file it away. Doesn't seem to be a big deal to add to alerts like for incoming phone calls for incoming text messages.

Did you read the page when you submitted your feedback?

Just about the first words on the page are:

"Use the form below to send us your comments. We read all feedback carefully, but please note that we cannot respond to the comments you submit."

It does not say that they cannot respond to "all" inquiries.

It says:

"please note that we cannot respond to the comments you submit."

The feedback feature is not a drive through window where you place an order. It is more like a comment box. They read them. They do not respond. Over the years they have included many improvements in their updates. They appear to listen. Just because a feature is important to you does not put it at the tp of Apple's list.

The point is not a personal response but any positive action on requests for anything, anyone has submitted. I am not the only one that has requested this and is not a big deal to include in list of sounds the list for the phone for text alerts. Every wireless phone I have had allowed for a large choice of text alert sounds. I recieve my work pages via text messages which is the only reason I care.

Yes, I heard from Apple re global ringtones on all alerts. I sent them, on average, one request a week via the "request for enhancements" email method. I also lobbied for it here. End result? After five months of sending emails, and being chided and/or deleted here, when 3.0 came out, that particular option (ringtones for email alerts. calendar alerts, voicemail alerts, and text alerts) was, well, missing. I believe I can say that Apple was heard from, loud and clear.

Oh, and another poster here is correct, you CAN get sounds other than tri-tone, chime, glass, horn, bell, or electronic on your alerts. The iPhone is certainly CAPABLE of giving you other sounds for alerts. Unfortunately, they would be ILLEGAL/VERBOTEN alerts, because you would have to jailbreak your phone to get them. But the phone can do them. Apple just, for whatever reason, doesn't think that you need to have them.

Thanks for response from "Dude". Glad someone else besides the previous person replying, who should be paid by Apple for meaningless response, has had the same frustration. At least I have only been waiting a couple of months. While this phone has some good apps written by developers, the basics with the phone are weaker than most standard cell phones. I should have looked closer before purchase since I don't use it to play, I use it for work and rely on not missing pages via text msgs.
