How to change a logo color

My logo is in a .jpg file format. It is a black logo with a white background. I can drag it into pages and use Instant Alpha to delete the white background but I would also like to change the color of the black part to Green. How do I do this? I've tried using the inspector but the fill drop down is greyed out. What am I doing wrong?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

The .jpg is an unfortunate choice for a black and white logo.

jpegs should only used for what they are good at, ie photographic objects.

I suggest you open the logo in Preview .app and resave it as a tiff which can be colored in Pages and most layout programs, however it may appear fuzzy as .jpegs blur their subjects.

Best is to go back to the original, hopefully vector, graphic and color it in a drawing program and resave it as a .pdf file.

Right, PDF Portable Document Format and not obsolete EPS Encapsulated PostScript. Among other things, Encapsulated PostScript and PostScript does not provide support for transparency, should some form of transparency be applied in the page description.
