What is maximum time length for a DVD to hold?

What is the maximum time amount a DVD can hold when burning? 1 hour, 2 hours?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5)

+in addendum+ to given advice... :

using other tools than iDVD and avoiding any standards of quality, you can put as much as you want on a disk .. there once was a tool, VisualHub, claiming to put 18h on a sl-disk.. ( ! )

it's all about the bitrate, how much video is 'sampled' in which time.. (perhaps you've heard of sampling-rates in audio, mp3, 120kBit/s vs 320kBit/s.. = same with video).
the higher = the better
iDVD sets these bitrates for you automatically. <60min uses the maximum of standard.

theoretically you can set these bitrates much lower..
Roxio Toast for example allows more/longer content too..
but you will soon notice socalled artifacts, esp. in dark areas or 'patterned' backgrounds as leaves etc.

that 120min barrier was set arbitrary, a compromise of quality vs needs (my audience usually falls asleep at the twenty min barrier...........)
