VPN on WinXP attached to AEBS

I am unable to connect properly to my corporate PPTP VPN (unknown server type) with my WinXP laptop through the AEBS. I can connect if I plug directly into my cable modem. I've tried a number of things, including making the laptop the default host, using NAT to forward the UDP/TCP ports 1723, 47, 500. I have NAT turned on for other port forwarding to other machines as well. It's not a wireless issue, as using the LAN ports on the AEBS don't work either.
An interesting twist is that portions of the VPN seem to work - I can see the corporate network, but I can't use the internet.
I'm grasping at straws here, since the AEBS is supposed to pass the PPTP traffic through.

If you can access your corporate network, then the VPN is working. The ability to access the Internet would require one of two things: 1) You company provides a forward proxy to route any corporate network out to the Internet or 2) The VPN client that you are using allows for a "split" tunnel. With a split tunnel, network traffic intended to communicate with the office servers goes through the tunnel, but traffic meant for the Internet (or your local network) would go out the local network through the AirPort out to the Internet.
