How do I transfer music from a CD directly to my iPod without importing?

I want to transfer music from a CD to my ipod nano (3rd gen) with out importing the music to iTunes. But I can't unless I import it to itunes, and i don't want to store music in my computer. Any idea how I can do that?

Additional info: I am using a mac.

Thanks (:

If you chose to manually manage your music, you can delete the CD tracks from iTunes once you have put them on your iPod.

Keep in mind that one of the standard troubleshooting steps for iPods is to completely restore them. It's less of an issue with CDs but you should always have a back up of any music you purchase from the iTunes Store. The iPod should never be the only place you have it.

You may also want to consider keeping your library on an external drive.

Best of luck.
