Safari doesn't remember to keep me logged in to facebook

Ok, Safari 4.0.2 consistently logs me out of facebook numerous times a day. This never happened to me before on my old 17" MacBook Pro 2.4GHz from Mid/Late 2007....even after every quit, or restart, etc...upon launching Safari and typing in facebook, it would always take me immediately to the home page (already logged into my account).

I just recently got a new 17" MacBook Pro 2.8GHz Unibody from Mid 2009, and now every time i quit the app, or DON'T even quit the app, when the facebook page is still loaded up, it eventually loses it's connection and i have to continually log back in every time.

What is making this happen? Is there an option that isn't checked somewhere in preferences anywhere? I can't find anything. Thanks

Try clearing the cookies in Safari. This can be done in the Prefernces by going to Security --> Show Cookies, and then clicking "Remove All", or by going to the "Reset Safari" menu option (in the "Safari" menu) and deselecting all but the "Remove all cookies" option.

I have tried just about everything from Resetting Safari, Emptying Cache, checking the Safari Prefs, and also clearing the cookies....

I did all of that in the past, and none of it seemed to help the situation....however, when i just tried to clear the cookies again after your reply, it did seem as though it might have helped a little bit...as i was being logged out of facebook numerous times a day (while using the computer, and even using the facebook page at the time that it happened), it now seems that it's keeping me logged in a little longer, but it still does log me out from time to time.

I'm really stumped on this issue - I was always able to just go to www.facebook.com and it would have me logged in automatically all the time, every time on my old 17" MacBook Pro. Now it seems that for whatever reason this computer doesn't want to keep me logged in.

The box is checked at the login page to "remember me". So every time that it does log me out, it does remember my login information, but it doesn't keep me logged in all the time.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Sorry. No fixes from me on this, just my sympathy. Safari just can't seem to remember login info for facebook despite many attempts to work around it, e.g., everything you cite above. However, Firefox works flawlessly, consistently remembering my facebook login info.....certainly helps keeping frustration level in check!

This may not be a browser-specific issue. This happens to me all the time because I access Facebook via the official app on my iPhone. So, if I don't sign out from the FB app on my iPhone, the auto login on my computer will not work.

Anyone using more than one device to access FB? Maybe a work computer or a mobile device?
