Can't login after logging out

Can't login after logging out

When I turn on my computer it loads directly into the OS, without having to go through the login menu. However if I am already using my computer and for whatever reason I decide to logout, I cannot login back, the screen shakes as if my password was incorrect when it really isn't. Any ideas as of what's happening? I cannot manage to fix this problem.

There is only one user account on my computer, the administrator account.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

hmm. make sure the login window is using the correct keyboard layout. while logged in, go to system preferences->accounts->login options and check the box to show input menu at the login window. then log out and verify that the correct keyboard layout is being used. that's the only thing i can think of that could be causing something like this.

this just looks like you are entering a wrong password when you are trying to log in from the login window. does your password work for other tasks such as unlocking system preferences panes? if it does try resetting your login password while you are logged in using system preferences->accounts->change password.

My password works for everything except logging in. I have already tried changing my password, I changed the password, and the problem persists. I can't login.

Okay, problem solved. That was the issue, the login menu was using another keyboard layout. Thank you V.K.
