SecUpd2009-003Intel on MacBook Pro 10.4.11 - will load only 99% and stop.

I have tried at least 10 times to do the latest Security Update (SecUpd2009-003Intel) on my MacBook Pro. It flew through with no problem on my Mac Mini, but keeps stopping at 99% writing on my MacBook Pro. I have run Disk Utilities, I have run DiskWarrior, I have run Tech Tools and still will not fully update. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro (Inel), Mac OS X (10.4.11)

At this point I think you should get Applejack...

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...

applejack AUTO

Then let it do all 5 of it's things.

At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

The 5 things it does are...

Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

Downloaded AppleJack. Backed up all my data to my external and finally got up nerve enough to run AJ. Then I tried the Sec. Update. Once again, it hung up at 99% writing with less than 1 minutes to go. I waited for several minutes, then decided to go fill the bird feeders and not get frustrated watching, just in case. After at least 10 minutes, it was still reading 99% when I came in to wash my hands. Figured on another force quit. To my amazement when I got back from the kitchen, the message read that it was finished and I could restart the computer. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE WITH A LITTLE OLD LADY!! I had my MacBook OS disk out, thinking I would have to reload the system and really mess it up. You cannot begin to know my appreciation!! Have been with Apple since 1984. LOVE MACS!

i had no problem w/ 2009-004 on 2 g4 powerbooks & an intel mini, but on 2 g3 clamshells, i had the same hang @ 1 minute remaining (writing pkg receipt).

on the 1st 1, i killed the update process, but it wouldn't reboot: coreservicesd kept crashing. i cleared cache, but ended up reinstalling, after which 2009-004 installed no problem.

now the 2nd clamshell's stalled @ the same place...i'll give applejack a shot...
