text messaging doesnt work

I have an iphone 3g, its updated to 3.0.1
and for the past 3 weeks, I cant sent text mesages, I can receive them but people just get a message from me that they cant read, and............. its not from my phone number!
does anybody have any ideas?

imac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Call your Canadian service provider. It could be you don't have SMS activated for your account or some other carrier-related issue. The phone number mix up definitely sounds like something only your carrier can deal with.

BTW -- when you place phone calls do they show up as coming from your number??

my text messaging was working fine till 3 weeks ago, then it just stopped
could it happen like this and be the carrier's fault?

phone cals do come from my phone number and emails come from my address...........but.......I cant delete any emails, I've only got an inbox, this too strted 3 weeks ago
I can send emails fine but cant delete them, I've got my gmail linked to my iphone
on gmail I can delete them, but when looking from my iphone I cannot!

If you have not done a Restore, you should give that a try -- since several bad things started "three weeks ago".
