how do i put the photos on my iphone to my comp?

i am going to do a clean restore and set up as a new phone so i want the photos to be on the comp so that way i can put them back on the phone after the set up is done

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

I do see that you have a Mac, but incase you were using a PC for your desktop or something you can plug the phone in and go into my computer, then the iPhone shows up as one of the detachable drives. Click on it, there are 2 files in there. 100 and 999. Click both of those and your pictures are in there. Copy and paste or drag from the folder to your desktop or into a folder on your computer. However... to re-upload them you need to file them in the pictures folder in iTunes to upload them back to the phone. It wont let you drag pictures back into the folder once you copy them out.
