iPhone Charging Problems

Yesterday I charged my iphone fully, went to bed with it having almost full power. Woke up in the morning at the 20% life left warning came up so I plugged it in to the wall charger and it started charging, everything seemed fine. An hour later I went to unplug it and the battery icon was still in the red-nothing had improved despite it seeming like it was charging. I switched it over to the USB connection to my iTunes and had the same problem. So it says its charging yet its doing absolutely nothing. Help!?

Just so you know, my iphone battery drain symptoms occurred shortly after seeing this particular symptom. You have to hard reset your iphone or plug it into a PC while its restarting to bring it out of the "confused" mode.
