Compass is wrong

Compass is wrong

The compass on my 3GS is always off by at least 15 degrees and sometimes is off by as much as 90. It doesn't matter if I have it set to true or magnetic norh, it is always wrong. I'm not near any compass interference. I'm using 3.0.1. Does anyone else have this problem or is it a hardware issue on my phone?

Anything better than 30 deg is pretty good, IMO.

I would agree wih that but it is wrong by 50-90 degrees too often for me to be okay with it.

I've not seen anything that bad .. that could not be corrected by the figure-eight calibration maneuver.

Usually headphones, car dashboard, and your computer can cause interference with the compass.
What i found useful is that when i am using it in the car on the dashboard, when the calibration pops up i ignore it and it calibrates itself.
