Downloading pictures from iphone to mac

I have already downloaded the pictures from my iphone into my mac but when I plug my iphone into my mac it still tells me I have 95 pictures to download.
I clicked it and it downloaded the same pictures. Once those were downloaded the message is still there. Am I doing something wrong?

The camera roll is like a "special folder" Anything there is stuff that needs to be backed up/taken off as it is just like a mini digital camera and exposes itself as such. Also there is a limit to how much it can hold. So you really do need to have iPhoto (or whatever you use) take it off, delete from phone. Then you sync back photos you want on your phone to the Library.

For me in Windows, I would take off photos and delete from camera roll (thus the camera is clear and ready for more files since there is a limit as that special folder is sort of isolated from rest of the stuff and it has a fixed size). I then put any pictures I want on my phone into the folder that I sync images from. I know iPhoto is a bit different that you select albums to sync, so you need to take off, delete and choose to sync the album you put those photos in to sync back on next sync.
