FCS stopped working (Can't get it to start in system preferences)
This morning FCS froze in a client app on a remote computer. We went to restart the java app but it said it could not connect to the server. We went onto the Xserve that FCS is installed on and saw that in the System Preferences pane, FCS was turned off. We have tried to start it again, but are continually getting the message, "Final Cut Server failed to start. See the server logs for more information." The client can only be opened on the Xserve with FCS installed on it and when the assets and productions load, there are no thumbnails and it won't connect to the proxies or original media. Anyone have any suggestions who have experienced this before? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, after attempting to download proxies, we're getting the error, "ERROR: E_COM Storeserver cannot connect to LDS (LDS is not running)." Is the LDS a generic item that I have to reestablish a path for?
Sounds to me like your database is broken somehow. For example, I've got this error when I accidently inserted some invalid data into FCS through the command line.
FCS won't start if the database has bad data in it.
You should have a backup from before this disaster; restore it and you should be up and running. That's pretty much the only fix.
